Q: Who are you?
A: Chuck Nasty
Q: What do you provide to the horror world?
A: I like to think that I provide horror to give the reader chills, gore to make the reader gag, humor to make the reader laugh and spice to make the reader feel a little sensitive in their special parts.
Q: What does horror mean to you?
A: An escape. A way to release angry and hateful feelings in a positive manner. That goes with any type of horror, cinematic horror, horror fiction in literature etc etc. Writing horror is all those ways plus, telling the 'what if this happened?' And figuring out how 'this happened' becomes the basis for a story.
Q: Why do you enjoy the horror genre so much?
A: pretty much like the answer above. It's a way to release violent thoughts, angry feelings and to just get away into another world of issues other than my own.
Q: What particular subgenres do you enjoy most? Do you have a favorite or one that sticks out to you more than the others?
A: I'm a slasher fan. Give me the sex and gore. My second is like body horror.
Q: What is your favorite horror film or TV series?
A: Texas Chaisaw Massacre, the OG. There's not another movie that can hold its balls. Disagree?…fight me and you'll lose! Haha! As far as TV shows are concerned, Tales from the Crypt has a special place in my heart.
Q: What is your favorite horror novel?
A: I have many, but one that has given me chills, along with the film adaptation of the same name, since I was a kid. A book filled with so many emotions. A book that feels raw…Pet Semetary.
Q: Do you play any horror video games (Ex: “Silent Hill”, “Resident Evil”, “Dead by Daylight”, “Amnesia, the dark descent”, Etc.), and if so, which is your favorite(s)?
A: I'm not a gamer but, sometimes those special horror games come along. One that I have been playing on and off for about a year now, is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre game, it's pretty fun. Before that, Silent Hill, Resident Evil are classic. Evil Within is also a favorite, as well and so it Vampyre. Fun game.
Q: Who are your favorite horror icons?
A: I was always was a fan of the creature from the black lagoon himself, Gilman. He was always a. Favorite but, Wolfman is right next to him. Now, a more recent movie Monsters, I would have to say that Pinhead from Hellrasier and Leatherface from TCM. Must also add Jason Vorheees. The Friday the 13th films are near and dear to my heart. I'm a Friday the 13th baby.
Q: When it comes to your projects, who or what have you drawn primary inspiration from?
A: Well, I draw inspiration from being in public. Alot of times I'll be talking to someone or over hearing someone talking about something bizarre and whatnot and I'll think "Gee…how did all of that come about?" And then ill start writing. The news, youtube videos based around crime and police body cam footage. You can gather alot from those.
Q: What projects are you currently working on? (Please feel free to include links ;))
A: At the moment, I am working in a novel with the guitarist (Josh Ross) for my band Bastard Sons of a Judas Goat (you can find us on Facebook, Spotify, band camp and youtube). I am also finishing up a novella that I am writing as something special for an upcoming anthology. After that I will be starting work on the stories for book 2 of volume one of Fresh Kills. And there might be another novella being started around then as well ;)
Q: Where can fans, fiends, and ghouls find you? (Please feel free to include links ;))
A: I can be found on FB, just look up CHUCK NASTY in all caps. My books and the many anthologies I have been apart of recently can be found on Amazon, as well as on Unveiling Nightmares Press.
